I dragged myself into the building, feeling like I’d just completed a marathon, only to be hit with that gut-wrenching news: the meeting was cancelled. Seriously? After all the effort I put into prepping for it? I couldn't believe these people.
“Why didn’t you guys inform me the meeting was cancelled?” I growled, irritation dripping from my voice as the receptionist barely flinched.
“Sorry, sir. The meeting was cancelled due to an emergency. I couldn’t reach you to inform you earlier.” She replied, her tone almost too casual for my liking.
I let out a deep sigh, frustration boiling beneath the surface. “An emergency, you say? How convenient. And no one thought to inform me? How shocking. (pausing for effect) I guess I shouldn’t expect competent communication in this establishment. Just make sure that doesn’t happen again, or I’ll have to seriously reconsider my position here.”
The receptionist swallowed hard, barely whispering, “Sorry for the inconvenience, sir. It won’t happen again.” I could see she was nervous, but right now, I didn’t care. I turned away, fuming. Where was everyone? No employees in sight, just a couple of guards and some chatty receptionists.
As I walked out, a sleek car suddenly pulled up and stopped right in front of the building. A man stepped out, looking frantic, but what caught my attention was the figure sitting in the back seat. He opened the door with urgency, revealing a woman who looked like she’d come straight out of a nightmare. She was clearly injured, clutching her head and limping slightly. All the security personnel dashed to her side, forming a protective barrier around her.
It didn’t take a genius to realize this girl was important, but i don't fvcking care and why should i? But honestly, I was too exhausted for this drama. I felt a mix of concern and annoyance at the utter chaos around me, so I opted to retreat to my car and head back to my mansion. Let them sort out their mess.
Anaya's Perspective
I woke up, my head spinning, only to see my assistant, VIVAAN, hovering over me like a worried mother hen. “MA’AM, ARE YOU OKAY? WHAT HAPPENED?”
I shot him a glare that was enough to silence him. He hurriedly searched for something and produced a phone—the one I had taken from that bastard I’d just killed. My heart swelled with pride because I knew he would have already passed the details to our security team.
“What’s the update?” I asked, eyes narrowing.
“Not yet, but I’ll find out who’s behind all this,” Kabir replied, determination in his voice.
Without wasting another second, I climbed into my car, “Take me to the penthouse” I commanded in a voice that offered no room for arguments. He nodded, knowing better than to question me. “Cancel all my meetings for today and reschedule the one for now to tomorrow.”
I didn’t want to go home—calling that place a home felt wrong. For me, it was more like torment. While everyone else found solace in their homes, mine was a labyrinth of chaos and questions I wasn’t prepared to answer.
When we finally arrived at the office- at top floor of my company there is my penthouse there is no one allowed except of some servants , VIVAAN opened the door and I stormed out, instantly met by the full force of my guards. I glared at them, and they stepped aside like obedient soldiers. My head throbbed again as I placed a hand on it, forcing myself to walk straight to my penthouse
With no servants around, it was the perfect opportunity to catch a break. I grabbed a couple of painkillers and sank into my bed, surrounded by cushions I often used for unrehearsed naps. For once, I allowed myself to relax.
The Next Day
The next morning, I awoke feeling better but still burdened. After a long bath and a skin care session—no makeup, of course—I ordered breakfast. ~

“Ugh, so annoying! My whole day was wasted! What’s the point of an emergency if it doesn’t involve something worthwhile for the company?” I grumbled, the irritation still fresh.
“Just hold your horses! Please don’t utter a single word in there,” Abhishek. replied cautiously, though I could sense his frustration simmering just beneath the surface. “You know that if you don’t control your temper, we’ll be in deep trouble.”
